IMMERSIVE
CO-CREATION
WITH FRACTAL
PRINCIPLES

MANTRA INTERVENTION BCN was an interactive and co-creative experience that brought the intriguing world of fractal geometry to LLUM 2026 by transforming the facade of ROC Boronat into a dynamic sculpture. Its movements attuned to a generative soundscape that unfolded in real time.

Fractal geometry is a special type of geometry that allows complexity to be built from simple, repeated rules. It was famously researched and applied by the Catalan architect Antoni Gaudí and has been used by artists and builders since ancient times. A fractal is a pattern that repeats at all scales. Imagine a tree: the main trunk splits into branches, each branch splits into smaller branches, and each of these has twigs, all following the same pattern.

The musical composition was based on Solfeggio frequencies, which evolve through multiplications like overtones and the flow of melodies, while technologies like granular synthesis sculpt them into a deeply immersive experience.

SHAPING
INDIVIDUAL
NARRATIVES

The building became a theatre of illusion and offered the audience a chance to embark on a meditative journey. Via an interactive terminal visitors were able to shape their own designs by modulating visual and sonic elements. Each touch subtly reshaped the fractal world and its sound layers, giving rise to individual narratives.
